Sunday 11/9/14

We started with blood gasses, then onto oxygen assistance levels, then to paralytic medication weaning schedules, now our focus shifted again and is geared to respirations per minute (RPM)

Ideal RPM for Ava is anywhere between 45-60. When watching her it is very easy to visibly see whether her RPMs are in a good place or not.  When her numbers are elevated it almost looks like she is running a race.  She is currently holding very well between 55-60. But when she hears noises, alarms, any type of commotion the rate jumps up to 75-80. It takes her a while to calm herself down and normalize the rate.

We do get a chance to hold her often and it is much easier to transfer her back and forth from the bed.  She is extremely aware and alert with eyes wide open!!!

We have had the opportunity to meet quite a few amazing people throughout our time here. We have made a routine of eating dinner with families every night at the Ronald McDonald House. Getting to talk to other parents and families that are going through the same experiences we are day in and day out helps a ton.

Was a fun day with a lot of visitors for Matthew's birthday!

Just as much fun... my best friends Matt and Erin Liebgott welcomed Andrew John this morning!  Mom and baby are doing fabulous!

So keep praying for good gasses, lower oxygen assist levels, no paralytic meds, and solid RPM's!!!

Oh Yea - almost forgot...

GO BEARS!!
